Below is the write up for the article.
October was National Bullying Prevention Month! New Springs Students participated in many school-wide events as well as classroom lessons to help raise awareness and teach our students about the dangers of bullying. A quick overview of some of the school-wide events:
• NSS Anti-Bullying Poster Contest
• Students and teachers signed an anti-bullying banner to pledge to take a stand against bullying
• New Springs Students and Staff wore blue shirts to raise awareness and display solidarity; that we are all a part of the same "ocean".
• We wrapped-up National Bullying Prevention Month by listening to Darrell Daniels, representative of the Derrick Brooks Charities Youth Programs, speak about his experiences growing up as a bully himself. He taught our students, through stories, about respect for all no matter differences in race, religion, or appearance.
We feel strongly that every student has a right to feel safe and comfortable while at school. We look to carry on the momentum from these events for the remainder of the school year and beyond.
